Everyone always asks, How is it made?
Handmade Scottish tablet & Fudge made in Muirkirk in the heart of Ayrshire, Scotland. All tablet is freshly made by hand in small 1.3kg batches using only the finest ingredients. I use only the best milk and butter to create this award winning national favourite Scottish sweet that I know you will love, and never use any chemicals or other such preservatives to make it last longer. I believe tablet should be enjoyed fresh. I personally cook all tablet to ensure the best quality is always created.
Saying that…..
Here is how I cook my tablet. (This makes about 1300g of Tablet)
- Sugar 1000g (One bag)
- Whole milk 250ml
- Butter (I use salted) 80g
- Condensed Milk 396g (One Tin)
- Place milk and butter in pot and heat until butter melts (better to not let it boil)
- Add sugar slowly, stirring as you do, but avoid touching sides of pot.
- Let this come to a boil, then let it boil for two minutes, and give good stir.
- Let sit on low heat for a minute and add condensed milk. DO NOT STIR THIS LIKE A MAD PERSON. Only stir once in a while until it is close to being ready. That’s when you have to watch it more. Even after making thousands of pots, I still use a sugar thermometer.

This is tablet cooking at four different stages. The last pot is the colour you are looking for and ready to be taking off heat
- Once its ready, take off heat and let sit for four or five minutes.
- NOW, you stir like crazy. (or use an electric mixer to save the arms)
- Pour in tray (best to use baking paper rather than greased tray)
NOW, this is the most important part of making tablet.
Taste test it. Directly from pot with a spoon while tablet is still hot. My oh My. Nothing better in this world.
